Port Blair, Sep 18: The executive Committee meeting of Govt. Pensioners’ Association was held on 14.09.2013 at ‘Shaheed Bhavan’ Anarkali. Mr. Md. Reza, President of the Association presided over the meeting.
Mr. Pronob Banerjee, the General Secretary of the Association presented working report of the Association and the account for the year 2010, 2011 & 2012. The members while discussing the working report stressed need for strong organisation to achieve the genuine demands of pensioners such as Medical reimbursement facilities to
pensioners & family members in the referred medical Cases to mainland Hospital.
The General Secretary informed the meeting that though the Director General of Health Services, New Delhi informed the Association vide its letter No.215025/1/2008- Desk.l dated 05.02.2010 that the Govt. is
contemplating to introduce a Health Insurance Scheme for CGHS –overfed and uncovered areas which will benefit both serving & retired Central government Pensioners. But so far no such scheme has been introduced
by the Govt. thus the pensioners of A & N Administration has not been covered under any scheme and compelled to bear huge medical expenses when complicated medical cases are referred to mainland Hospital.
The meeting decided to campaign for enrollment of membership and National programmes would be arranged to press for early settlement of the demands. A communication from the Govt. Pensioners Association
