Port Blair, Sept 15: Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President taking concern of the future of the graduate students who want to opt for post graduation on various subjects but denied admission due to scarcity of seats in Jawahar Lal Nehru Rajakeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) in various disciplines, met the Principal with a delegation of NSUI officials and students and stated that the woe of the students. Sharma has also wrote a letter of request to the Chief Minister of Puducherry Thiru N Rangaswamy to kindly interfere in the matter and influence the Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University for increase of seats in various disciplines.
In his letter Sharma has briefed of the geographical constraints of Andaman and Nicobar islands which is a far flung area and cut off from mainland where many such facilities are not available which the counterparts at mainland are enjoying. One of such lack of facility is higher education, Kuldeep has stated. Kuldeep has also stated that a large number of youths who are very much eager to have post graduation after passing out graduation in Hindi, Bengali, Political Science, Geography and Commerce but due to scarcity of seats and non availability of PG Bengali in Jawahar Lal Nehru Mahavidyalaya
(JNRM College), which is the only College under Pondicherry University at Port Blair, many aspirants are losing the opportunity to study further.
Kuldeep has also briefed that during last academic session, with the request of the AN Administration and the Congress Party, the Pondicherry University had enhanced seats for many streams from 15 to 25 numbers in JNRM College at post graduation level but this year, though the AN Administration has requested for enhancement of seats from 15 numbers to 25 numbers each for MA Hindi, MA Political Science, M.Sc Geography, M.Com streams, but till date no action has been taken by the University as a result many students are waiting for admission in those streams.
Kuldeep, batting for the students has also submitted that the College has sufficient rooms, excellent labs and efficient teaching staff to take care of all the students and there will be no difficulty for the College management in case the seats are increased by the University as has been proposed by the AN Administration.
Giving the above details, Kuldeep has requested the Chief Minister to kindly look into the matter at his personal level and convince the Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University to give permission of 25 seats each for MA Hindi,MA Bengali, MA Pol Science, M.Sc Geography and M.Com.
Kuldeep has also stated that there is a huge demand of MA Bengali also which may kindly be also introduced with 25 seats from this academic session and onward.
