Port Blair, Sept 13: Two PHC’s situated at Kishorinagar and Chouldari were handed over to an NGO “APARAJITA” during June 2011 under a MoU to run it in PPP mode. But due to certain administrative reasons the idea of running the PHC’s did not succeed. Hence the Administration took over the above two PHCs. The transfer of the PHC back to administration’s control has created a new problem.
The 36 staffs primarily Group ‘D’ & ‘C’ staffs, who were rendering their service for the last more than two years have been removed by the administration since 1st of September 2013.
“A delegation of said employees had met the then Lt. Governor in April & the new LG in August 2013 through a social worker. The Lt. Governor had assured them that the service will be continued and that there will be no removal. During the discussion reportedly the senior officers of the Administration were also present. During recent visit to PHC Chouldari the present Lt. Governor has also reportedly assured them of continuation of their services. But the assurances made have become void,” a release from MP office said here today.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands, who was appraised of the problem recently, has requested the Lt Governor vide a letter for continue of their services under the Health Department and effectively utilize the experience of the said staffs.
