Diglipur, Sep 11: Andaman lobster (Metanephrops andamanicus), which is very rarely seen nowadays, was spotted recently at Diglipur Fish Market. The Andaman lobster was about 5 feet in size and was kept for sale.
The size of the lobster does not relate with its prohibition but when the lobster is in its breeding phase that is when it is going to lay eggs the species sale is prohibited.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Dr. Shailesh Kumar, AFDO about this matter he reached the spot immediately and warned the fishermen of stern action.
