Port Blair, Sept 11: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC Vide his letter No: O-1/ANTCC/2013/81 dated 8th of July 2013, had narrated the woe of the employees of the Forest and Plantation Development orporation to the Minister of State (Independent Charge), Environment and Forest, Mrs. Jayanthi Natrajan and stated that till date they are deprived of the benefit of VI pay commission and the Industrial workers have not been given any pay revision for the last 20 years despite a settlement reached between the workmen and the management of ANIFPDL in 2007 as the proposal for revival and restructuring of the ANIFPDCL has delayed and that the employees and workers are in the verge of starvation as they are facing extreme difficulties to meet even the essential expenditure in the sky rocketing increase in cost of living in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and has also requested for sanctioning of loan assistance from Ministry of E& F of Rs. 17 crores as proposed for the deficit in fund to meet the expenditure for the payment of salary and wages for 2013-14 may be expedited.
Referring the above letter, Mrs. Jayathi Natarajan, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Environment and Forests, New Delhi has informed the PCC President vide her DO letter No: 8-2/2012-SU dated 4th September, 2013 that the matter has been taken up with the Ministry of Finance for release of a loan of Rs. 11 crore to the Corporation and also to enhance the loan amount to at least 17 crores
for the current year 2013-14, against the present provision of Rs. 11 Crore.
