Port Blair, September 05: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A K Singh PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, released a book titled ‘Adrift-A True Story of Survival At Sea’ authored by noted journalist, Shri V. Sudarshan of ‘The New Indian Express’ group at a simple function held at Raj Niwas this afternoon. The book, set in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, tells the true story of Commander Baath, when he took his French guests alongwith his crew of four, on a diving trip off Sir Hugh Rose Island, 20 nautical miles from Port Blair, and this adventure turned into a story of ordeal, grit and survival.
In his brief address on the occasion, the Lt Governor complimented the author for bringing out the book, which recounts the brave story of Commander Baath and how he survived the ordeal at sea for six days. He further stated that since the story is related to the Islands, people here would find it interesting. He added that the Administration plans to procure copies of the book for its schools, colleges and libraries.
Commander Baath also shared his story of courage and hope in the face of Nature’s most challenging nemesis-the ocean.
Earlier, welcoming all those present, the author Shri V. Sudarshan informed the gathering as how he got the idea of writing book. The Chief Secretary and other prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
