Port Blair, Sept 02: In a shocking incident a Jawan of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) today allegedly shot an unemployed youth at Sippighat village of South Andaman.
According to police the IRBn Jawan Rana Paul has shot 22 years old unemployed youth, Brijesh Das @ Rahul on his chest from Point Blank range inside a Bus Stand of Sippighat Village, South Andaman, which resulted in Rahul’s death.
“A case has been registered under section 302 IPC and the accused has already been arrested. Police is carrying out further investigation. A & N Police will take stringent action against the accused if found guilty,” Mr. Chinmoy Biswal the Superintendent of Police South Andaman told Andaman Sheekha today.
Meanwhile the family member of the deceased have alleged that Rana Paul, the IRBn Jawan had taken Rs. 85,000 from Brijesh Paul with a promise to arrange a job in Police Department but neither provided any job nor returned the money back. They alleged that the IRBn Jawan was under the influence of liquor when he murdered Brijesh Paul.
“Rana Paul rang up my son to return the amount this afternoon. Nobody could ever imagine that Rana Paul will kill my son,” Kartick Das, father of Brijesh Das told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ today.
Meanwhile, resident of Brijesh Paul’s locality, Sippighat have blocked the Andaman Trunk road demanding fast action against the accused in a transparent way. They also demanded compensation and job for one family member of the deceased.
Here at G B Pant Hospital the Police controlled the angry crowd very efficiently. Commandment IRBn Ms Aslam Khan and IGP Sanjay Singh were present at G B Pant to talk to family members or deceased and assure the crowd of a stringent action. The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray also played a good role in controlling public and taking their point to senior police officer.
