Port Blair, Aug 21: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC in his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has requested him to increase the grant given to the orphan girls of Balika Bhavan from Rs. 1100 /- to Rs. 2000 /-. Mr. Sharma in his letter wrote that he expresses his gratitude towards the Andaman and Nicobar Administration for granting secured shelter, proper education to the orphan girls. He further added that these orphan girls have lost their childhood, love and affection of their parents at a very tender age.
He further explained him that these orphan girls are presently given a grant of Rs. 1100/- per month by the administration and at present their life is secure and they are getting all the facilities from the orphanage but when these girls would grow up and attain age worth working and for marriage will require a lump sum amount for their future needs and from this point of view the amount of Rs. 1100/- granted to the orphan girls seems less.
