Port Blair, Aug 11: The Tushnabad Block Congress organised a public meeting at Collinpur Junction on 8th August, 2013 under the leadership of PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma. In his speech Sharma has briefed the gatherings about the various flagship programmes of the UPA Government viz RTI, MNEREGA, Bharat Nirman, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, NRHM, Right to Education and Right to Food etc which have been helpful to the people of all walks of society and discussed over the burning issues prevailing in these islands and stated that Congress Party always takes care for solving these issues with the AN Administration and at various levels in the Central Ministry.
He has also informed the gathering that very recently he had a met the Home Minister Shri Sushil Kumar Sinde and requested for regularization of cases of encroachment upto 2002 and allotting 200 sq mtr of land to all islanders for construction of house, besides he has also requested for creation of Andaman & Nicobar Public Service Commission for recruitment to the posts of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, subsidy in Air India and other airliner flight fare and to start new sectors, creation of sufficient Posts of staff nurses, teachers and other posts and has also asked 3000 crore rupees as special package for Employment Generation.
Sharma also briefed the general public how the Congress Party was instrumental to handle the buffer zone issue alongwith the AN Administration for the relief of the general public of the areas.
On the issue of employment generation, Sharma has stated that this is the era of information technology and maximum employment can be generated through this sector and also it can be enhanced with Fisheries and tourism sectors and hence he will definitely draw the attention of the AN Administration to give more focus on these fields so that unemployment problems can be solved at the maximum level. He has also spoke about his concern about the future of the students community of these islands and recently took up the issue of re opening of the 2nd shift of JNRM with the AN Administration and also requested the Lt Governor for opening of Medical College , University and a new college in AN Islands. Others who spoke on the occasion were Bimal Biswas, AICC member, Smti Abala Samaddar, ZP Adhyaksha SA, Rangalal Halder, Dist Prez MN Andamn, Nirmal Biswas, Block Prez Diglipur,Samir Paul, Ex ZP member, Diglipur,Masih Lugun, Secy, ANTCC, Jayaraman, Distt Prez Nicobar, Smti Sumitra Devi, GS Mahila Congress, Tushnabad, RP Singh,AR Selvan,City Prez, AR Manickam, GS, RV Reddy, Dist Prez and many others addressed the huge gathering assembled to hear their leaders.
Revati Mandal,Ex MPC member graced the meeting as Sabhapati of the meeting. At the outset Sanjib Kumar Mandal, Block President Tushnabad has welcomed the gathering and spoke on the occasion while Shri RK Banerjee PCC member has proposed vote of thanks.
