Port Blair, July 29: A Felicitation function to honour Coast Guard Meritorious Children was organized by Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A&N) in coordination with Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association Tatrakshika, Port Blair to recognize hard work of the meritorious students and also to encourage the children to excel and achieve outstanding results in their academic pursuit on July 29.
The function was organized at the Coast Guard Indoor Sports Complex, wherein Inspector General VSR Murthy, President Tatrakshak Medal, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) was the chief guest on the occasion. Mrs Jyoti Murthy, President Tatrakshika (A&N) also graced the occasion.
A total of 29 CG children, who excelled in academics in Class VIII to Class XII for the academic year 2012-2013 were given prizes and merit certificates by the Commander and President Tatrakshika (A&N), in presence of Commanding Officers and Officer-in-Charges of all CG Ships and establishment at Port Blair. The parents and family members of the meritorious students were also present as special invitees for the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General VSR Murthy, PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N), congratulated all the meritorious students. He stressed upon the importance of continued hard work not only in academics, but also in all spheres of life, so as to ensure overall personality development. He also said that the need of the hour is to nurture and harvest the talent in all children, in which the parents have a big role to play. He also appreciated the coordinated efforts of Tatrakshika (A&N) and commanding Officer ICGS Varad for their wholehearted support to the noble event.
