Port Blair, Jul 19: A delegation of Government Employees Federation, Andaman and Nicobar Islands led by Mr. P. Kannan, President met the Lt. Governor at Raj Niwas yesterday and welcomed him to these Islands and congratulated him on becoming the Lt. Governor (Administrator) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The delegation briefed the Lt. Governor about functioning of Government Employees Federation in these Islands and assured their full support and cooperation. The Lt. Governor interacted with each office bearers of Federation and also appraised their functioning and assured his full support and cooperation to Government Employees Federation.
The Lt. Governor also discussed various issues with President Mr. P.Kannan, General Secretary Mr. S.K. Majumdar and delegation in the presence of Chief Secretary and Secretary to LG such as filling-up vacant posts of all the departments, which has not attracted ban.; Deputing adequate staffs to inter-Islands.; Eradication of corruption.; Unemployment problems.; Improvement in public service.; Proper implementation of transfer policy.; Imparting short term trainings/seminars to all technical & non-technical staff.; Posting of adequate IAS / DANICS and HODs.
He also discussed various important issues related to good governance and the development of these Islands.
The Lt. Governor also sought suggestions, support and cooperation of Government Employees Federation (GEF) for the smooth function of Administration as well as for development of Islands.
Finally, on behalf of Federation, Mr. P.Kannan, President expressed his gratitude to the Lt. Governor for the assurance given by him.
