Port Bair, Jul 11: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC today requested the Chairman, PBMC to reconstruct the Municipal Dharamshala and purchase four more mortuary vans for city.
In his letter Mr. Sharma wrote that the present condition of Municipal Dharamshala is not at all suitable for human.
“It has broken doors, windows and many cracks. The poor and needy people from inter islands who come to Port Blair for medical treatment cannot afford to stay in lodges and hotels are compelled to stay here and get embarrassed to stay here as there remains no privacy due to broken doors etc and also because of its dilapidated condition, they afraid of various types of insects,” Shamr said in his letter.
He added that the water storage is also not hygienic and the damped floor is also not suitable for a sick person and children. Mr. Sharma considering the above reasons has demanded to take immediate action
for its reconstruction.
Further Mr. Sharma has also written that the mortuary vans of PBMC have also become too old and unsuitable to carry the dead bodies. The near and dear of the deceased use such vans due to the reason that they are unable to carry the deceased on their own accord.
To feel sympathetic with such grieved person and to give honour to the dead body, the PBMC must provide them proper mortuary van. Mr. Sharma also requested the Chairperson, PBMC to purchase four new mortuary vans among which he added two should be air-conditioned to carry the dead bodies to inter islands by road.
