Port Blair, July 10: Raising the issue of intrusion of foreigners in Andaman since 2004 tsunami, Mr. Vishal Jolly, President of BJP’s A & N State unit today demanded CBI verification of foreign intruders. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of A& N Administration, Mr. Jolly said that in this issue the A&N Administration too cannot deny its responsibility in facilitating such elements to enter the Islands without a hitch.
“The Administration has withdrawn photo identity from ship tickets and 10 years Islander certificate. It also allowed no restriction while preparing “Aadhar” cards considering all the inhabitants as Islanders and Indian National,” Jolly wrote in his letter.
He added that presently Islands is reeling under the fever of an unprecedented high risk alert. Reportedly on account of ingression of terrorists/ anti social elements into the Islands which is the cause of action resulting entire defence mechanism including Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, A&N Police force and its subsidiary organisation swinging into action. The common people are the worst sufferers who actually belong to these Islands and Islands belong to them.
“The peace loving people of these Islands are under threat and many of them are in panic and having sleepless nights for fear of un toward incidence. The situation has been flared up by the security people most and most of the time in a prejudiced manner. The information floating in air indicates 4 to 40 number of intruders in Islands of whom some have been apprehended too. This proves the insensitiveness and mishandling of the situation by the Administration,” Jolly wrote.
He alleged that the reportedly prevailing general threat perception by the Police has caused a complete trembling situation and hence the common people have all the right to know the actual situation that the Islands are passing through.
In this regard Jolly today demanded CBI verification of the foreign intruders based on the 2004 voters list of general election, identifying them and deporting them back; Others who arrived after 2004 (based on General Election voters list) must be issued “inner line permit” in line with North Eastern States of the country; Re – introduction of photo identity on ship tickets and Entry be registered of intruders/ visitors at Haddo wharf and airport and also recording of their stay in the Islands.
“The above activities may be a cumbersome activity but Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands does not and will not compromise with any terrorist threat or otherwise which may allow the disruption of the serene and peaceful atmosphere of the Islands,” Jolly said.
He also made an appeal to all Political Parties of the Islands to come above petty Political interest and deny support to any illegal entry in these peaceful Islands for a greater cause.
