Sri Vijaya Puram, October 16: Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands, has observed that the tourism sector is one of the primary sources of employment generation and economic growth in the islands. Over the last few years, the Government of India has taken important steps including declaring Veer Savarkar Airport as an International Airport and opening various islands for tourism infrastructure.
Visiting tourists have at times complained that proper information regarding the islands and various services is not being provided by their agents or government agencies. Taking note of the issue, the Administration has come out with a new initiative that is expected to benefit tourists as well as those involved in the tourism sector.
Lt. Governor Dr. Dinesh Sharma, while reviewing the functioning of different institutions involved in tourism promotion, has directed the implementation of a single-window booking system for various services, permits, tickets and related facilities from January 2027.
Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari expressed his happiness and gratitude to the Lt. Governor for taking this important decision. The BJP had many times suggested such a system while discussing tourism-related issues with former Lt. Governors, according to a press release issued by Mr. S.P. Ellango, State Media Convenor, BJP, A&N Islands.
