Sri Vijaya Puram, October 16: The Election Commission for Union Territories has issued a public notice on the schedule for the draw of lots for reservation of seats for women for the forthcoming General Elections to Panchayats and Municipalities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The tenure of Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, Zilla Parishads and the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council is due to expire shortly, and general elections to these local bodies will be held before the present term ends.
In accordance with the relevant electoral rules, the Election Commission will hold a draw of lots on October 27, 2026 (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Hall, Zilla Parishad, Mayabunder, to allocate reserved seats for women in North and Middle Andaman.
A second draw of lots will be held on October 28, 2026 (Wednesday) at 11:30 a.m. at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram, for seats reserved for women in South Andaman District (including Campbell Bay) and the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council. Any person or political party wishing to attend the draws is invited to do so.
