Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 6: The Gems of India is a national initiative of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, being implemented through Prasar Bharati, with the objective of identifying, encouraging and providing a national digital platform to emerging creators from districts across the country. The initiative invites citizens, particularly young creators and digital content creators, to showcase the culture, heritage, tourism potential, traditions, cuisine, art and inspiring local stories of their respective districts. The last date for submission of entries under the “Gems of India” Pilot Initiative has been extended up to 31st October, 2026. The Pilot Phase is being implemented in six States/Union Territories, namely Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Goa and Ladakh. The submission window, initially opened from 21st July, 2026 to 31st August, 2026, was subsequently extended up to 30th September, 2026 and has now been further extended to 31st October, 2026. In-charge, IT Cell, may be contacted for technical supports if any required for while uploading the digital content.
How to Participate: Interested participants may register and submit their entries through the MyWAVES section of the WAVES OTT Platform on or before 31st October, 2026. The initiative provides an opportunity to showcase the unique stories, rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and tourism potential of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to audiences across the country. The Directorate of IP&T in a press release has invited young creators, storytellers and digital content creators of the Islands to participate and bring the unique stories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to the National stage, besides winning awards & reorganization at National Level.
