Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 30: A Chess & Cleanliness Drive was organised at Madhupur Road, Diglipur, North & Middle Andaman on September 29 by PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Subashgram, in collaboration with the North & Middle Andaman Chess Association and Subashgram Gram Panchayat.
As part of the initiative, participants first joined together to clean the surrounding area and subsequently gathered for a game of chess. The activity aimed to promote cleanliness, community participation and the positive values of chess in an engaging manner. students, community members and chess enthusiasts participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
Mr. P. R. Singaram, Pradhan, Subashgram Gram Panchayat, graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the participants. He also felicitated the participants with medals in recognition of their active participation and contribution to the cleanliness drive as well as their enthusiasm for chess.
The programme conveyed the meaningful message, “Think before you move, and think before you litter,” highlighting the importance of thoughtful decisions both on the chessboard and in everyday life.
The initiative received an encouraging response from the local community and provided an opportunity how chess can be used as a platform to promote cleanliness awareness, social responsibility and responsible citizenship among students and community members.
The initiative concluded with a strong message that every clean surrounding begins with individual responsibility, just as every successful chess move begins with thoughtful action. Through this unique combination of cleanliness and chess, the programme encouraged students and community members to think responsibly, act collectively and contribute towards a cleaner and more aware society.
