Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 24: In a major push toward environmental sustainability and community-led sanitation, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram organized a successful ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ Shramdaan and Beach Cleaning Drive on 24th September 2026. The drives were conducted under the nationwide banner of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, the event took place at the newly developed Ek Number Eco-Tourism Beach and Park cum Eco Beach, situated near the Ek Number Bridge.
The drive was spearheaded by Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, who rallied local institutions and citizens around a shared vision of ecological preservation. Mobilizing voluntary civic action, the initiative focused on restoring and beautifying one of the region’s key eco-tourism assets to ensure a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for visitors and residents alike.
During the hour-long voluntary labor drive, participants carried out extensive restoration tasks across the park and coastal stretches. Key activities included systematic jungle clearance, removal of dense overgrown vegetation, thorough park sanitation, and the removal of plastic debris and waste along the adjoining seashore, dramatically improving the aesthetic and ecological health of the area.
The initiative showcased exemplary multi-departmental cooperation and civic solidarity. Active participation was recorded from Gram Panchayat officials, dedicated sanitation workers, personnel from the Forest Department, team members from APWD Betapur, and a strong turnout of enthusiastic local volunteers—truly exemplifying the collective spirit of the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Pradhan Mr. Venkateswar Rao reiterated that sustainable waste management and clean public spaces require continuous civic ownership. He emphasized that joint Shramdaan activities under SHS 2026 remain a vital foundation for safeguarding the local ecosystem and building a greener future.
