Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 09: The State Control Room, based on the latest weather forecast issued by IMD Kolkata and IMD Shadipur, Sri Vijaya Puram, has issued weather, fisherman, farmer and port warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 10 and 11, 2026.
On September 12 and 13, heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely during this period.
Further, thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the islands on September 14 and 15.
Fishermen Advised Not to Venture into Sea
The fishermen warning indicates that squally winds of 35–45 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coast from September 10 to 11, 2026.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coast during the warned period.
A Swell Surge Alert has also been issued for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Swell waves in the range of 16–18 seconds with a height of around 1.3–1.4 metres are forecast up to 11:30 PM on September 10, 2026.
There is a possibility of surging waves, and boats have been advised to ply with utmost vigilance. Recreational activities along the coast should also be undertaken with due care.
Farmer Warning
The farmer warning indicates that heavy rain of 7–11 cm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 10, 2026.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are likely at one or two places over the islands on September 11 and 12. Heavy rain of 7–11 cm, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, is also likely on September 13.
The general public, fishermen and farmers have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the anticipated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and rough sea conditions.
The Port Warning indicates little change in weather conditions during the subsequent two days.
