Port Blair, June 28: In view of the general threat perception and forthcoming Independence Day 2013 celebrations, the Andaman and Nicobar Police have beefed up the security of the Islands. Additional force has been deployed for the security of the vital installations and market areas.
Meanwhile the Police Department has issued Dos and Don’ts for Public. The Dos are please inform about any suspicious activity that comes to your attention to local police station or Control Room on Phone Nos. 232100, 100, SP South Andaman Phone No. 233077, SP North & Middle Andaman Phone No. 273344, SP Nicobar Phone No. 265223, IGP (Law & Order) Phone No. 232354; Please inform about any unclaimed, abandoned or suspicious article lying in your locality on toll free No. 100; Please inform police about any unclaimed vehicle, two-wheelers or bicycles parked in your locality for a long time; Please collect detailed information of a tenant before renting out your property and inform the local police station and Please inform about hiring of dinghies/motor boats/Vehicles by unknown persons or any suspicious movement of dinghies/motor boats/Vehicles on toll free No. 1093 and 100.
The Don’t are: do not touch any unclaimed, abandoned, suspicious object till the arrival of the police; Do not panic on hearing a rumour. Verify facts from local police stations or the police control room; Do not crowd the place if any suspicious object has been found. Please co-operate with the police and clear the area as soon as possible and do not leave your personal baggage or leave your vehicle/two-wheelers/bicycles unattended at any place for long.
