Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 06: The Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has sought an early update from the Andaman & Nicobar Administration regarding the status, completion and proposed inauguration of the long-pending Aasthi Visarjan/Ganga Ghat Project at Sri Vijaya Puram.
In a representation addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary and Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), HRS State President Rakeshwar Lall stated that the organisation has been pursuing the project since 2016 with the objective of providing Islanders with a proper and dignified facility for Aasthi Visarjan and related last rites.
HRS recalled that the Bhumi Puja was performed in November 2023, including a programme conducted by HRS, which was also covered by local print and digital media. The organisation has also been regularly raising the issue through press releases and public representations.
According to information available with HRS, a work order of approximately Rs 29 crore was issued for the project near Hornbill Nest. HRS has therefore requested the Administration to officially communicate the present status of the project, expected date of completion and proposed date of inauguration.
Another important request made by HRS is for permission, subject to applicable rules and approval of the competent authority, to perform the Pran Pratishtha of the Shiv idol at the designated location within the premises.
HRS has appealed to the Administration for an early communication regarding the Pran Pratishtha, inauguration programme and other arrangements, stating that the project is of significant religious and public importance to the people of the Islands.
