Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 24: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), under the UT-ATMA scheme, conducted a Demonstration Programme at the farmer’s field of Smti. Nirmala Das, Village Uttara, on 31st August 2026.
The programme was organised with the objective of providing practical, field-level training and technical guidance to livestock farmers for the adoption of improved animal husbandry practices. During the demonstration, the participating farmers were sensitised about scientific livestock management, better feeding practices and the importance of timely veterinary interventions for improving animal health and productivity.
The farmers present at the programme actively interacted with the technical team and showed keen interest in adopting the practices demonstrated at the field level. The programme also served as a useful platform for the Department to reach out to farmers at their doorstep and address their queries related to livestock rearing.
Such field-level demonstrations form part of the Department’s continuous efforts under UT-ATMA to promote scientific animal husbandry practices, enhance rural livelihoods and strengthen livestock production in the Islands. The Department of AH&VS remains committed to organising similar programmes for the benefit of farmers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a press release from Dept. of AH&VS said.
