
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 01: The South Andaman Forest Division organized a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Sensitization and Capacity Building Programme on September 1, 2026, at the office of the Divisional Forest Office (South Andaman), Wimberly Gunj.
The session was conducted by Ms. Rubina Siddiqui, President of the island-based NGO Rights for All (RFA) and a Certified POSH Master Trainer. The programme was held in the presence of Mr. Rajee George, IFS, DFO (South Andaman), Mr. R S Sharath, ACF (South Andaman) and Mrs. N Safiya, ADO/Chairman (ICC, DFO SA). Around 55 employees including male and female employees of the office attended the programme and actively participated in the interactive session and discussions.
The programme focused on the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, workplace safety, professional conduct, employee rights and the procedure for reporting and addressing complaints. The participants were also briefed about the role and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), along with practical examples of workplace situations. As a part of the programme, a POSH pledge was also administered to the participating employees.
The programme was organized to create a safe, respectful and supportive workplace for all employees and to strengthen awareness and compliance with the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013.
