Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 31: The National Sports Day 2026 celebrations commenced at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram, with the inauguration of the Inter-Department Table Tennis Competition by the Principal, Dr. Pearl Devdas.
Addressing the students, the Principal emphasized the importance of sports and physical activity in promoting fitness, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship, and encouraged students to participate actively in sporting activities.
The celebrations are being organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, JNRM, with the support of faculty members, support staff and students, under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat” and the campaign pillars “Tribute, Play and Move.”
The celebrations will continue with the Inter-Department Chess Competition and a Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, and will culminate on 29 August 2026 with a Cross-Country/Fitness Run for Boys and Girls, promoting fitness, participation and a healthy lifestyle among students.
