
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 30: On the occasion of “National Sports Day 2026”, Andaman & Nicobar Police proudly joined the nationwide campaign of the “Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports” under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat”, with the inspiring message “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein.”
The National Sports Day 2026 campaign, being observed from 28th to 30th August 2026, is built around the three pillars of “Tribute, Play and Move” and carries the message “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein”, encouraging citizens to devote at least one hour to sports and physical activity and make fitness an integral part of their daily lives.
With great enthusiasm and sporting spirit, the cycling rally commenced from Dharamshala and proceeded through Marina Park Traffic Point, GSSS Girls’ School, JNRM, Flag Point, Mazar Pahad Junction and Science Centre, before returning through the same route and concluding at Netaji Stadium Gate. The sight of cyclists riding together in the early morning hours created an energetic atmosphere and spread a strong message of fitness, unity and healthy living.
The event was graced by Mrs. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands, along with Mrs. Niyati Mittal, SP (APU),Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DSP (PMF) and Mr. Ranjit Kumar AD Sports, who joined the participants in the cycling rally and encouraged everyone to embrace an active, disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Their participation added great motivation and enthusiasm to the event.
With 80+ enthusiastic cyclists riding together, the event witnessed active collaboration and participation from the Andaman & Nicobar Police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sports Authority of India (SAI), and Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS), cyclists and sports enthusiasts. The collective participation celebrated the spirit of fitness, camaraderie and an active lifestyle, reinforcing the message that every hour spent in sports is a step towards a fitter and stronger India.
The initiative aimed to promote cycling, physical fitness, healthy living and greater public participation in sports, while reinforcing the importance of regular physical activity for maintaining both physical and mental well-being. It also served as a reminder that a fitter and healthier society begins with small but consistent steps towards an active lifestyle.
The participation of officials and personnel from various organisations reflected the spirit of inter-departmental coordination, unity and collective commitment towards promoting sports and fitness. Such initiatives not only strengthen police-public engagement but also inspire citizens, particularly the youth, to step out, stay active and adopt healthy habits through regular participation in sports and physical activities.
