
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 21: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with UT-ATMA under Prothrapur Block, organised a two-day Training Programme on “Advancement in Assisted Reproduction in Cattle” on 20th and 21st August 2026 at the farmer’s field of Mr. Dominic Ekka, Sippighat Village.
During the training programme, the importance and benefits of Artificial Insemination, Sex Sorted Semen (SSS), Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) and upgradation of germplasm were explained in detail to the participants. Pamphlets related to Sex Sorted Semen, refreshments, training materials and inputs such as plastic basins were distributed among the participants. Certificates of participation were also provided to all the attendees.
Deworming medicines were given to the livestock owners present during the programme. One of the farmers, Mr. Nepal Majhi, came forward and offered his male calf for castration, which was successfully carried out by the Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Hospital Garacharma and team.
The training was conducted by Dr. V. Subramanian, Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Hospital Garacharma, along with Mrs. T. Zareena, Veterinary Compounder, Mrs. Sakeena, Lab Assistant and Mr. K. Chandramuni, Veterinary Compounder. Mrs. Nazia, Block Technology Manager (BTM), also coordinated the programme.
Altogether 20 participants attended the two-day training programme. The participants expressed happiness over the conduct of such a useful training at their village level.
