Sri Vijaya Pyram, Aug 14: Mahatma Gandhi International School held its Annual Investiture & Prize Distribution Ceremony on Thursday on the school premises, formally inducting the newly elected Student Council for the academic session 2026-27.
The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the continuous upward movement of knowledge, wisdom and righteousness.
The event was graced by Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Mr. Dubey lauded the institution for nurturing discipline, leadership and academic excellence. He urged the new office bearers to uphold integrity and serve as role models, and emphasized the vital role of youth in nation building. He also appreciated MGIS for maintaining a strong balance between scholastic and co-curricular activities.
Ms. Ranjana Gulechha, Secretary, MGIS, addressed the gathering and congratulated the newly inducted council members. She expressed pride in the students’ enthusiasm and commitment, and encouraged them to lead with responsibility, compassion and teamwork. She further motivated them to set high standards for themselves and to contribute positively towards making the school a better place for all.
Mr. K. Pandia Rajan, Physical Education Teacher, administered the oath of allegiance to the newly appointed members of the Students’ Council. The council members pledged to serve their Alma Mater with utmost sincerity and dedication.
The highlight of the event was the formal investiture of the Student Council and the felicitation of academic achievers. Dhruv Tripathi, State Topper in NEET and School Topper, and Hitansh Malhotra, who secured 97.5 percentile in JEE, were honoured for their outstanding performance.
Principal, Mrs. Ch. Swapna, in her address, motivated the students with her insightful words. She blessed them and urged the new council to set clear priorities, work as a team, and discharge their duties with commitment and integrity. She congratulated the achievers and the new office bearers.
The confidence and dedication of the council members reflected their readiness to take on their responsibilities.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Sanjana, followed by the National Anthem to instill feelings of patriotism and pride in the nation’s glory.
