Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 13: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in collaboration with Pankh NGO and My Bharat, organized a special Pre-Event Celebration of Independence Day 2026 at the CRC premises on 12th August 2026. The programme was conducted in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, with the theme “Inclusive India, Empowered Divyang – Viksit Bharat 2047”, promoting inclusion, empowerment and active participation of Divyangjan in nation-building.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Sumithamol S., Director, CRC A & N Islands, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, distinguished dignitaries, parents, caretakers and Divyang children. She highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive environment where every Divyangjan gets equal opportunities to participate, express their talents and contribute meaningfully towards the vision of a developed India.
The programme was graced by Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary, Agriculture/APWD, A&N Administration, as the Chief Guest. As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, the Chief Guest planted saplings at the CRC premises, symbolizing the collective responsibility towards environmental conservation and a greener future. Addressing the gathering of scores of Divyang children, parents and caretakers, Ms. Pallavi Sarkar recalled her long-standing association with CRC A & N Islands since her joining the A&N Administration. She expressed that she was deeply moved by the creativity and talent displayed by the Divyangjan, particularly the posters, paintings and paper crafts prepared by the children of CRC.
While interacting with and encouraging the children and their parents, the Chief Guest remarked that, rather than merely encouraging and motivating the children, she herself felt deeply encouraged and motivated by their determination, creativity and achievements. She especially conveyed her heartfelt wishes and appreciation to the strong and dedicated mothers of the Divyang children, acknowledging their invaluable contribution and constant support.
The occasion was also graced by Swami Suddanand, Chinmaya Mission, whose presence and words of encouragement added spiritual warmth and inspiration to the programme. Mr. SR Biswas, Joint Director, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Mr. Ashok Kumar Biswas, Nodal Officer (Disabilities), Directorate of Social Welfare, Mr. Deepak Kumar, District Youth Officer, and Mr. Gopal Biswas, APS, also graced the occasion.
The programme witnessed a vibrant series of cultural performances presented by the Divyang children, showcasing their confidence, creativity and talent, particularly a mesmerizing patriotic song presented by the children added to the spirit of patriotism and made the celebration memorable.
The participation of Mrs. Komal Anand, President, PANKH NGO, further strengthened the collaborative spirit of the programme. The event reflected the collective commitment of CRC A & N Islands, Pankh NGO and My Bharat towards creating an inclusive, empowered and participatory society, where Divyangjan are recognized as equal contributors to the nation’s progress.
The celebration concluded with a strong message that inclusion is integral to nation-building and that the active participation, empowerment and equal opportunities of Divyangjan are essential to realizing the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047.
