Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 11: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Sri Vijaya Puram is inviting applications from interested farmers/ youth/ women from the islands for its upcoming three days training programme on “Scientific Cultivation and Post-harvest Management of Major Spice Crops of the Bay Islands” to be held during August 17-19, 2026 at the Garacharma campus of the Institute.
Spices are the high value-low volume crops that are highly suitable for cultivation in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In order to maximize the profits from spices cultivation, adoption of scientific techniques is crucial. Through this training, practical and theoretical knowledge on various aspects of propagation, cultivation, intercropping, aftercare, harvesting and post-harvest operations will be provided to the interested stakeholders. As the number of participants is limited to 25, interested persons may send their name, educational qualification, age and profession to Dr. Ajit Arun Waman, Senior Scientist and Course Director on 9933263441 on or before 14/08/2026. The shortlisted participants will be informed in advance. Working lunch will be provided to the participants. The training is being organized with the financial support of Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode and technical support of All India Coordinated Research Project on Plantation Crops for the benefit of island farmers.
