Chalakudy, Kerala | August 9: Andaman & Nicobar Islands have made a powerful statement on the South Indian Muaythai stage!
A seven-member team representing the islands has returned from the South Indian Muaythai Championship 2026 with an outstanding 6-medal haul — 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze, after three days of intense competition at Chalakudy, Kerala.
The championship, held from August 7 to 9, brought together 500+ athletes from six states, creating a fiercely competitive arena. Against this strong mainland competition, the fighters from Andaman stood their ground and delivered a performance to remember.
The Island Champions are Geddam Vikas — Gold; Tanzim Ali — Gold; T. Aadhi Narayana — Silver; P. Charan — Silver; Akshara R.P. — Silver and Yedam Samira — Bronze.
Representing Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Champions Zone Muaythai and MMA Club, the athletes stepped into the ring carrying the pride of the islands on their shoulders. Each bout demanded skill, courage and tremendous determination, and the team responded with a fighting spirit that earned them six podium finishes.
The achievement is yet another proud chapter in the growing Muaythai journey of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. From a small island sporting community to standing toe-to-toe with athletes from across South India, the fighters have shown that geography is no barrier to ambition, talent and determination.
With 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze from just seven athletes, Team Andaman has returned from Kerala with more than medals — they have carried back pride, recognition and glory for the islands.
