
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 05: Based on information received from reliable sources a team of Mobile Squad Range, under South Andaman Forest Division comprising Mr. Uttam Kumar Mistry, Forester, Mr. Sushant Sarkar, Forest Guard and Mr. John Chrysostom, Forest Guard along with Mr. Ganesh Sahu, RM, Mr. Paul Mark, RM, Mr. Vishal Minj, RM went to Chota Patther Ghum area under Mile Tilak Reserved Forest within the Jurisdiction of Jirkatang Forest Range on 05/08/2026 and detected 18 pcs of illegally sawn Padauk timber measuring 0.545 Cbm. No offender was traceable in the location. A case on an unknown offender has been booked under various sections of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. Efforts are on to trace the offender with the available leads from the crime spot.
The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajee George, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, South Andaman Forest Division, and the guidance of Mr. R.S. Sharath, Assistant Conservator of Forests and Mr. John William, Forest Ranger.
South Andaman Forest Division reiterates its appeal to the General Public to cooperate in safeguarding natural resources and report any suspicious activities related to illegal forest and wildlife produce on the help line number 03192-255228. Identity of the informants will be kept confidential.
