Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: Intensifying its relentless campaign against drug trafficking, the North & Middle Andaman District Police achieved another major breakthrough in its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign. In the second NDPS case detected in the district on a single day, a specialized team from Police Station Kadamtala acted on credible intelligence and carried out a well-coordinated operation at Bhakta Road, Kadamtala, on 29 July 2026, resulting in the seizure of over 2 kg of suspected ganja and the arrest of one person under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Based on specific information that a suspect, a resident of Bhakta Road, Kadamtala, was in possession of narcotic substances, a police team led by Sub-Inspector P R Shain Nair, SHO, PS Kadamtala, immediately swung into action. During the search, the police recovered two concealed packets containing over 2 kg of suspected ganja from the possession of the accused. The recovered contraband was seized, and the accused was arrested after following due legal procedure. Further investigation to trace the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the illegal narcotics network is underway.
The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Mr. Mahendra Singh Charan, DANIPS, SDPO, Rangat, and the overall supervision of Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&MA District. The N&MA District Police reaffirm their unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting the community from the menace of narcotic substances.
