Sri Vijaya Puram, July 29: Under the guidance of Dr. C. Pushpavalli, Block Project Officer (BPO), Diglipur, a two-day Identification and Medical Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) was successfully organized on 27th and 28th July 2026 under Inclusive Education, Samagra Shiksha, BPO Diglipur.
The first phase of the camp was held at PM SHRI GMSSS Sitanagar on 27th July, covering CRC Sitanagar and CRC Kalighat, where 52 Children with Special Needs (CwSN) and suspected children underwent comprehensive screening and assessment with around 150 participants. The concluding session on 28th July was conducted at the Multipurpose Hall, Diglipur, covering CRC Diglipur, CRC Keralapuram, and CRC Swarajgram, where 43 CwSN, along with suspected students, were assessed in the presence of 120 participants.
Overall, 95 Children with Special Needs received multidisciplinary assessments by medical professionals from Sub-District Hospital, Diglipur, ALIMCO experts, rehabilitation professionals from Sri Vijaya Puram, Special Educators, and a BRP (CwSN) deputed from BPO Rangat for vocational assessment. A Sign Language Interpreter Trainer for Hearing-Impaired children from BPO Diglipur also participated in the camp to facilitate effective communication and support. The assessment included general health examination, vision and hearing screening, educational and vocational assessment, psychological and functional evaluation, and guidance on rehabilitation services, assistive devices, therapies, and inclusive educational support.
During the programme, aids and appliances were also distributed to eligible Children with Special Needs who had been identified during the previous academic year’s Identification and Medical Assessment Camp, ensuring continuity of support and rehabilitation services.
The two-day programme witnessed the participation of 270 students, parents, teachers, school authorities, and stakeholders. The camp was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Rakhi Kabiraj, BRP (CwSN), BPO Diglipur, and concluded successfully, reaffirming the commitment of the Education and Health Departments towards early identification, comprehensive assessment, timely intervention, rehabilitation support, and inclusive education for Children with Special Needs in the Diglipur Block.
