Port Blair, June 21: To inspect the ongoing activities of Agriculture department and to interact with the PRIs and progressive farmers of Diglipur, the Director of Agriculture, Mr. M.A. Salam, along with the Assistant Director (Agri. Engg & FM.), Mr. Vijay Kumar was in a two day official visit from 20/6/13 to 21/6/13 at Diglipur.
A meeting cum interaction with the PRI members, progressive farmers and farmer friends was organized at 03.00PM in the Subhashgram Panchayat Hall. The meeting was enlightened in the presence of Mr. Gourango Dutta, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur, Mr. Anil Mondal, Zilla Parishad Mwmber, Pradhans of various Gram Panchayat, PRI members and Farmer friends. With the onset of interaction, Smt. R.Bhu Bharthy, AA welcomed the gatherings and the Director (Agri.), Mr. M.A. Salam discussed about the various training programmes, farm school, and Method demonstration and stressed on the impact of climate change on farming.
He requested the PRI’s and the Farmers to highlight their major issued and demands pending with respect to Agriculture Sub-Depots, availability of agriculture inputs, Extension activities & implementation of Central sponsored Schemes. Later on Mr. Gouranga Dutta, Pramukh, expressed his thanks to department for organizing such as interaction session.
On Second day 21/06/13, The Director along with Assistant Director (Agri. Engg&FM.) visited few farmer’s field of Madhupur and the other villages and interacted with the farmers regarding performance of Hi-Tech Poly Houses structure, farming activities and ongoing paddy cultivation . He also visited Multipurpose Farm, Keralapuram, Coconut Plantation & S.C.S.D Farm, V.S.Pally, and after detailed inspection necessary suggestions & responsibilities were given to concerned Farm In charge for production of planting materials, developing Mango Orchard, Establishment of Floriculture garden and Minor Fruit Blocks.
