Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), through the State Control Room, has issued a weather warning for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning at isolated places across the district.
According to the forecast, from July 28 to August 2, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
A Fishermen Warning has also been issued for the Andaman & Nicobar coast. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts from July 28 to July 29. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
The IMD has stated that there is no Swell Surge Alert for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
A Farmer Warning has also been issued indicating that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are likely at isolated places over the Islands from July 28 to July 31. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect crops, livestock, and agricultural equipment from adverse weather conditions.
The outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in the prevailing weather conditions. Residents are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions during periods of thunderstorms and strong winds.
