Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24:The Directorate of Social Welfare organized a one-day UT-Level Internal Workshop on “Creating a Well-Functioning Care Economy” at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Disaster Management, Sri Vijaya Puram, in line with the initiative of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
In his inaugural address as the chief guest, Shri Ravinder Kumar, Director (Social Welfare), highlighted the significance of the Care Economy and emphasized the need for strengthening care services through coordinated efforts of all stakeholders. He informed the participants that the concept had already been deliberated at the National Level Workshop organized by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and stressed the importance of organizing a similar workshop at the Union Territory level to identify local challenges, opportunities and actionable recommendations.
Officers from various Government Departments, representatives of NGOs and other stakeholders actively participated in the discussions, sharing their experiences, best practices, challenges and innovative suggestions. The workshop concluded with presentations by each thematic group, during which the recommendations and key outcomes of the discussions were presented before all participants.
