
Sri Vijaya Puram July 22: Prof. (Dr.) Surya Prakasa Rao, Vice Chancellor, Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday, inaugurated the academic session of B.A.LL.B. at Andaman Law College, a constituent college of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL). While congratulating the students for choosing Law as their choice, he said that Law is a noble profession. It is advocates who made India free from colonial rule. In the post-independence era too, they were playing a pivotal role in ensuring rule of law and adherence to ‘constitutionality.’
He urged the students to develop communication and language skills and study political science, sociology, and economics to understand the Law in proper perspective. Law as a discipline is deeply connected with social sciences and now Artificial Intelligence (AI) a harbinger in the offing, yet it should be within ‘Law’ he said. However high you may be, the Law is above you; he referred to the saying. It is essentially a ‘Justice’ education, the senior Professor has opined.
Surya Prakasa Rao, Chairman of the Board of Studies in Law of NSCBIHL, drafted the curriculum and syllabus of B.A.LL.B. NSCBIHL. Director of School and Higher Education Mr. Aditya Sangotra, participating as a guest, said that ‘if he had an opportunity to go back to a college, I will prefer to join Law’. Law governs the society, and it touches all facets of human & social life. Registrar, NSCBIHL Dr. Jaya Kumar while welcoming the students, said that you are a privileged to be the first batch under university and asked them to bring laurels to the University.
Principal of Andaman Law College, Dr. PVN Sarma, welcomed the students while presiding over the meeting. It has a decade of credible existence as a vibrant law college. As NSCBIHL’s constituent college, the syllabus and curriculum of B.A.LL.B. has been updated to keep pace with the nationwide trends in legal education, and NSCBIHL’s curriculum is on par with many leading law schools, he said. Clinical legal papers, i.e., practical papers, will get more focus to make lawyers more equipped with the required skill set. Ms. Nisha Sikdar, Assistant Professor in English, and Ms. P. Manisha, student, anchored. Earlier, VC, Director of Education, Registrar, NSCBIHL, Principal lit the ceremonial lamp as a mark of inauguration. They offered floral tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s photograph, and subsequently the session started with prayer by Akansha and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Nisha Sikdar.
