Sri Vijaya Puram July 22: As part of its sustained commitment towards building a Drug-Free Society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the South Andaman District Police has been conducting a series of awareness programmes across educational institutions to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse, alcohol addiction, and illicit trafficking.
During the recent awareness drives, programmes were conducted at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, R.K. Pur, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Hut Bay, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dignabad, Sri Vijaya Puram, and Government Senior Secondary School, Shaheed Dweep, reaching more than 700 students and 55 teachers.
Police officers sensitized students about the harmful physical, mental, social, and legal consequences of drug and alcohol abuse, the provisions of the NDPS Act, and the importance of resisting peer pressure and making responsible life choices. Interactive sessions encouraged students to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement by spreading awareness among their friends, families, and communities.
As part of the campaign, Nasha Mukti Pledges were administered to the participating students, reaffirming their commitment towards creating a drug-free and healthy society.
The awareness programmes were conducted by dedicated police personnel, including Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen, SI Debrata Raha of PS Hut Bay, SI Abhishek, LPC Prisca, PRAYAS members, and other officers, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of South Andaman Police towards preventive policing and youth empowerment.
The Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, has reiterated that the District Police will continue organizing awareness programmes, community outreach initiatives, and enforcement actions to protect the youth from the menace of drugs and to strengthen the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat. The public is also urged to actively cooperate with the police by sharing information relating to drug trafficking or substance abuse to ensure a safer and healthier future for the islands.
