Port Blair, Jun 20: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC has once again demanded re -appointment for the Part Time employees in the Education Department of Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
In his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mr. Sharma wrote that all eight groups of Part time teachers, ayas, sweepers etc a total of 465 members who have rendered their sincere long services to the Education Department for upbringing the tiny tots have been removed again from their services on 5th April, 2013.
Advocating for these helpless groups, Mr. Sharma briefed in his letter that most of these teachers, after getting initial appointment in the Education department have married and having children to look after apart from other members in the family. After being retrenched of their long sincere services in the department, on 12th April, 2012, they were running from one door to other to get their grievances heard.
The matter was taken to the Lt. Governor by the PCC President and the Administrator has considered their case sympathetically and they were again reappointed on 1st October, 2012 but to their ill fate, they were again put under retrenchment on 5th April, 2013 by the Education Department.
Giving details about the pathetic condition of the Groups, Mr. Sharma wrote that previously all these 8 groups had 465 members but, some of them have been able to get jobs somewhere else, and at present only 390 members are there in the group for consideration of jobs.
Mr. Sharma also placed in record that as per his information total 628 vacancies are available in Pre primary sections in Education department of the Administration and thus has requested the Lt. Governor to appreciate their problems by considering their long services, giving one time relaxation in their age, qualification etc, as at the time of their initial appointment they all had requisite qualification, age etc of the time, all these 390 waiting staff may be appointed against the 628 vacancies and for rest 238 vacancies fresh candidates may be considered for appointment as per rules of the department since all these poor ex-employees of the Education department are waiting for getting appointment under education department.
