Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The One Stop Centres (OSCs), functioning under Mission Shakti of the Ministry of Women & Child Development and implemented by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, conducted a series of awareness programmes during May and June 2026 at Dairy Farm, Aberdeen Bazar, Phongichung, Shadipur, Mohanpura, Bhargat Line, Prothrapur, and Calicut.
The programmes created awareness on the services of OSCs, Women Helpline, women’s rights, gender equality, cyber safety, prevention of violence against women, and the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. A total of 209 participants attended the programmes.
The initiatives enhanced awareness of legal rights, support services, and grievance redressal mechanisms, encouraging women to seek timely assistance and promoting community participation in ensuring the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women.
The OSCs provide integrated support to women affected by violence, including medical assistance, police facilitation, legal aid, temporary shelter, psychological counselling, and rehabilitation support.
Women facing any form of violence or abuse may approach the nearest OSC directly or through referrals from the Police, Hospitals, Government Departments, Anganwadi Workers, relatives, friends, or other agencies.
