Sri Vijaya Puram, July 17: Mr. Johnson Kerketta, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Chainpur, submitted a detailed memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner (DC), North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, highlighting the extremely poor Jio mobile network and internet connectivity in Hanspuri Village.
The memorandum stated that although a Jio mobile tower was installed in the village nearly three years ago, the majority of Hanspuri continues to suffer from poor mobile network and internet connectivity. As a result, students are unable to access online education, farmers face difficulties in availing government schemes, patients struggle to contact emergency health services, and residents are deprived of banking, pension, telemedicine, and other essential digital services.
Pradhan Mr.Johnson Kerketta stated that the Gram Panchayat has repeatedly raised this serious public issue with the concerned departments and Jio Company. The matter has also been discussed in several Gram Sabha meetings, but no permanent solution has been provided so far. Consequently, there is widespread dissatisfaction among the villagers.
A joint representation signed by the villagers was also submitted along with the memorandum. The Pradhan requested the Deputy Commissioner to direct the concerned authorities to conduct an immediate technical inspection of the existing Jio tower, rectify all technical deficiencies, carry out a detailed network survey of the entire village, and initiate the installation of a new BSNL mobile tower in Hanspuri at the earliest. He also requested that the concerned departments be directed to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within the prescribed time frame.
The Pradhan emphasized that mobile and internet connectivity has become a basic public necessity in today’s digital age. He urged the administration to take prompt and effective action in the larger public interest so that the thousands of residents of Hanspuri Village can finally get permanent relief from this long-standing problem.
