Sri Vijaya Puram, July 10: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has informed that, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next few days.
A fishermen warning has also been issued. Squally winds with speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts from July 12 to July 14. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during this period.
The IMD has also issued a farmer warning for the next five days, indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) at one or two places over the islands. Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect crops and agricultural assets.
According to the Port Warning, the outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in weather conditions.
The general public, fishermen, farmers and all concerned departments have been advised to remain alert, monitor official weather updates, and take appropriate precautionary measures to ensure safety.
