Sri Vijaya Puram, July 5: In a major development in the much-talked-about Food Fantasy restaurant attack case, police have arrested two accused persons and issued notices to five others as the investigation gathers pace. The case, which has remained at the centre of public attention and political controversy over the past several days, has now witnessed fresh action by the Andaman and Nicobar Police.
As per an update obtained by Andaman Sheekha Daily, Mr. Deep Singh and Mr. Jeet Singh, both residents of Prem Nagar, Sri Vijaya Puram, have been arrested in this case. Police have also served notices under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to five other persons, directing them to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Officials said the notices have been issued as part of the continuing probe into the incident.
It is learnt that the two arrested accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court today. While Mr. Deep Singh was remanded to judicial custody, Mr. Jeet Singh was granted bail by the Court.
The case relates to the attack on the Food Fantasy restaurant in the Goalghar/Junglighat area of Sri Vijaya Puram a few days ago, an incident that sparked widespread outrage across the town. The alleged assault quickly became one of the most discussed issues in recent days, with residents, business owners and various sections of society expressing concern over the law and order situation. The delay in the arrest of the accused also became a subject of intense public debate.
The controversy further intensified after Councillor Aziz Ur Rahman, along with Youth Congress leader M. A. Sajid and leaders of the Telugu community, publicly questioned the pace of the police investigation and demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved.
