Sri Vijaya Puram, June 28: The State Quality Monitor (SQM) from Kolkata today inspected the PMGSY road project, “Improvement of Rural Road from ATR to Panchawati Agriculture Farm, Ward No. 2” (Length: 2.33 km).
The inspection was carried out in the presence of the Junior Engineer, APWD/PIU Nimbutala, Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, and other concerned officials. The project was executed by M/s Garg & Sons State Promoter Pvt. Ltd., Engineers & Contractors.
During the inspection, the road was found to be in a highly deteriorated condition, causing inconvenience to the local residents. Mr. Venkateswar Rao informed the SQM that the issue had been repeatedly brought to the notice of the concerned authorities. However, despite the contractor’s obligation to maintain the road during the five-year maintenance period, the necessary repair works were not carried out on time, leading to the present condition of the road.
The Pradhan strongly urged the SQM to recommend immediate restoration and repair of the road to ensure safe and uninterrupted connectivity for the people of Panchawati. He emphasized that timely action is essential to prevent further deterioration and avoid hardships for commuters, especially during the monsoon season.
The SQM acknowledged the concerns raised during the inspection and assured that the matter would be taken up with the competent authorities for necessary action at the earliest.
