Sri Vijaya Puram, June 25: The Andaman & Nicobar Police, under its Community Policing initiative, is organizing the“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Unity Cup” Badminton Tournament, 2026 under the theme “Sports for Fitness, Unity and a Drug-Free Society – Celebrating National Unity, Patriotism and the Spirit of Vande Mataram” from 09th to 12th July 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The tournament will be conducted in the Sub-Junior (Under-15), Junior (Under-19), Open and Above 35+ categories for Singles and Doubles events. A Departmental Team Event (Open Category) shall also be conducted, subject to participation of a minimum of eight teams.
The entry fee shall be Rs. 200/- (Singles) and Rs. 400/- (Doubles) for Under-15 Category, Rs. 300/- (Singles) and Rs. 500/- (Doubles) for Under-19 Category, Rs. 500/- (Singles) and Rs. 1000/- (Doubles) for Open Category, Rs. 1200/- for Above 35+ Doubles Category, and Rs. 4000/- per Department Team.
Cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates shall be awarded to Winners and Runner-ups in various categories, while Winner and Runner-up trophies shall be awarded to the Departmental Teams.
All Government Departments under the A&N Administration, educational institutions, badminton clubs and interested players of the Islands are invited to participate. Interested participants may submit their entries to the Sports Section, APU Police Line, Sri Vijaya Puram on or before 07/07/2026 up to 1700 hrs.
