Sri Vijaya Puram, June 21: As per the directives of issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC), Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court at Port Blair, in association with the Andaman and Nicobar State Legal Services Authority, successfully conducted the 2nd National Lok Adalat of the year 2026 on 21st June at the Circuit Bench Complex, Port Blair.
The Lok Adalat Bench was presided over by Mr. Justice Reetobroto Kumar Mitra, Judge, Calcutta High Court, holding Circuit Bench at Port Blair. His Lordship was assisted by Mr. Rakesh Pal Gobind, Learned Advocate, who served as a Member of the Bench.
During the proceedings, a total of six matters were taken up for consideration, of which five matters were amicably settled and disposed of under the aegis of the High Court Legal Services Committee.
The successful conduct of the National Lok Adalat reflects the continued commitment of the legal services institutions towards promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and ensuring expeditious, cost-effective, and amicable settlement of disputes. Such initiatives play a significant role in enhancing access to justice, particularly for litigants and residents of the remote areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
