
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 19: The programme aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among sanitation workers, who play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness in society.
The event was held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle.
The programme was attended by Mr. K. Ganeshan, former Chairperson of SVPMC and Ward No. 8 representative, who appreciated the efforts of the Foundation in organising an event dedicated to the well-being of Safai Karamcharis.
Addressing the gathering, social worker Ration Rasheed highlighted the significance of incorporating yoga into everyday life to reduce stress, improve physical health, and enhance mental peace. He lauded the dedication and hard work of Safai Karamcharis in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the city and encouraged them to prioritize their own health through regular yoga and wellness activities.
Yoga instructor Battini Ramesh Kumar guided participants through various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, emphasizing the importance of yoga for healthy ageing, physical fitness, and mental well-being.
Participants expressed gratitude for the initiative and acknowledged the benefits of yoga in improving flexibility, reducing fatigue, and promoting a positive outlook towards life.
The event concluded with a message of unity, health and wellness for all reflecting the true spirit of International Yoga Day and reinforcing the importance of yoga as a powerful tool for healthy and active ageing.
