Port Blair, June 17: The Disaster Warning Sirens has been installed in the premises of Secretariat Port Blair, Assistant Commissioner Office, Nancowry, Rajeev Nagar Campbell Bay and Deputy Commissioner Office, Car Nicobar, Chowra Island, Teressa Island and Katchal Island. The sirens have been installed to alert the general public during any disaster which is blown at high pitch/volume.
The siren will be tested on 3rd and 18th of every month at 1000 hrs. During the tests, the siren will be blown for two successive blasts for 30 seconds. Siren of other department i.e. Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Marine department (DSS), Chatham Saw Mill, IOC, Forest department, Haddo, Police Stations, Aberdeen, Chatham and Garacharma, Ograbraj and Bambooflat will also be blown in a similar manner at 1OOO hrs.
“Therefore, the general public is informed not to panic during the test of siren and requested to maintain calm on the date and time specified above,” a release from Adminitsartion said here today.
