
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 11: CPI (M) has demanded adequate and immediate sanction of compensation for the loss sustained by six families of Ward No.2 at the Shyamnagar Gram Panchayat in Swarajdeep Island due to the flash flood on the night of 10th June, 2026.
In a letter sent to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee said that water from the overflowing nearby Nallah entered the houses of six families living in Ward No. 2 of the Shyamnagar Gram Panchyat, Swarajdeep (Havelock) on the night of 10th June, 2026, damaging the household items. He said that all these six families belong to lower strata of society, and their entire household items were damaged. They have to purchase new household items as most of the household items got damaged in the flood water. He demanded that pending surveys and sanction of compensation, immediate financial relief may be provided for the affected villagers.
