
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 04: An awareness programme on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) Scheme was conducted on 03rd June 2026 by the Department of Social Welfare at Sanitary Office, Garacharma, as part of its ongoing efforts to create awareness about Disability-related services and welfare schemes among various stakeholders and community-level functionaries.
The programme was attended by Sanitary Inspector, sanitary workers and other staff members. During the programme, State Coordinator (UDID), sensitized the participants on the UDID Scheme, its benefits, disability certification process, registration procedure and the importance of obtaining a UDID card for availing various government schemes and services meant for Persons with Disabilities.
The participants were also informed about the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra Scheme, under which assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, tricycles, artificial limbs and other rehabilitation aids are provided to eligible Persons with Disabilities. Further, awareness was provided on the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), a Government of India scheme aimed at providing physical aids and assisted-living devices to senior citizens belonging to economically weaker sections, thereby improving their mobility and quality of life. The programme aimed at creating awareness among participants so that they can disseminate information regarding disability-related services and welfare schemes within the community.
The programme concluded with an interactive session followed by a vote of thanks.
